Barden Value Precision Bearings-Engineering Excellence for Demanding Applications

Published: Apr 01, 2026 Engineering Team

For over 70 years, the name Barden has been synonymous with leadership in the super precision ball bearing market. Today, this legacy of excellence continues through the partnership between The Barden Corporation (UK) and HQW Precision GmbH. This collaboration brings together "Partners in Precision," combining best practices and knowledge to deliver tailor-made bearing solutions that meet the most stringent performance demands.

The Value Precision Bearing range represents the perfect intersection of this heritage and modern engineering. Designed for applications ranging from microelectronics to high-performance motors, these bearings are not merely components; they are precision instruments engineered for accuracy, reliability, and smooth operation.

Built to the Highest Standards

Every bearing in this range is manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities fully certified to ISO 9001. We adhere strictly to international tolerance standards, ranging from ISO P0 to P4 (ABEC 1 to 7). This rigorous quality control ensures that each bearing meets the specific requirements of "super precision" applications.

What sets the Value Precision range apart is its ability to offer the same high-end quality and finish you expect from Barden, but with added value. Whether you require standard configurations or specialized assemblies, this range is designed to accommodate the performance needs of the most demanding environments.

Material Science and Construction

At the heart of Barden's engineering philosophy is material integrity. Our bearings are primarily manufactured from high-quality chrome steel or stainless steel. Both materials undergo specific heat treatments to ensure maximum strength and longevity. Notably, advancements in our production processes allow us to maintain identical load ratings between chrome steel and stainless steel variants.

For applications requiring even higher performance, we offer Hybrid Ceramic options. These utilize ceramic balls (Si₂N₄) within steel rings, providing superior electrical insulation, non-magnetism, and the ability to withstand extreme temperatures up to 1000°C.

Sealing Solutions for Every Environment

Contamination control and lubricant retention are critical for bearing life. The Value Precision range offers a comprehensive selection of closures, categorized as either shields (non-contacting) or seals (contacting). Your selection depends on the balance between speed and the level of protection required.

  • Non-Contact (Shields): For high-speed applications where low torque is critical, our SS (Stainless Steel) and AA (NBR Rubber) shields offer excellent lubricant retention and limited contamination protection without sacrificing speed.

  • Contact (Seals): Where positive sealing against foreign contaminants is mandatory, the YY (NBR) and VV (FKM) seals provide a robust barrier. For extreme chemical resistance and ultra-high temperatures, the Synchroseal (UU) made from glass-fiber reinforced PTFE is the optimal choice, functioning effectively from -240°C to 300°C.

Precision Lubrication and Speed

Lubrication is not an afterthought; it is integral to the bearing's function. We offer a vast portfolio of lubricants, including specialized instrument oils and greases, selected based on operating conditions and torque demands.

  • Oils: Recommended for minimum torque requirements. We utilize high-performance oils such as Winsorlube L245x and Aeroshell Fluid 12, which meet stringent military specifications (MIL-PRF-6085D).

  • Greases: For applications requiring longer service intervals, our selection includes Aeroshell Grease 7 and Multemp SRL. We strictly advise against using EP additives for low-noise applications to prevent corrosion and noise generation.

The limiting speeds of our bearings are defined by mechanical and kinematic criteria. While standard values are provided, narrow tolerances, special lubrication, and specific retainer materials (such as our machined phenolic resin cages for high-speed applications) can significantly enhance speed capability.

Duplex Bearings and Calibration

For applications requiring extreme rigidity and precise positioning, Barden offers Duplex Bearings. These matched pairs are preloaded and ground flush to provide accurate radial and axial positioning. Available in "Back-to-Back" (DB), "Face-to-Face" (DF), and "Tandem" (DT) configurations, they offer higher load capacity and system stiffness compared to single bearings.

Furthermore, to achieve a uniform fit on the shaft and in the housing, we offer Calibrated Bearings. In quality grades P5 or ABEC 5 and better, bearings can be graded into tight groups of 1.25µm. This level of calibration ensures that when you install a Barden bearing, it performs exactly as the engineering models predict.

Conclusion

The Barden Value Precision Bearing catalogue is more than just a list of dimensions; it is a testament to engineering excellence. From the material selection to the tolerances and the lubrication, every aspect is designed to deliver "Partners in Precision" for your most critical applications.
