Kaydon RK Series Flanged Four-Point Contact Slewing Bearing Introduction

Kaydon RK turntable bearings are classic lightweight four-point contact ball slewing units from Kaydon, specially engineered for large-dimension, intermittent rotating machinery under medium load conditon. Built with integrated flange on inner and outer rings, these bearings cut down overall equipment height and reduce component weight at the same time. Most standard sizes range from 500mm to 1200mm outer diameter and are availble from factory stock, while geared variants can be ordered together with original brand drive pinions directly.

Adopting gothic arch four-point contact raceway design, the single row ball construction absorbs radial load, axial load and tilting moment simultaneously. Alternating arrangement of balls and spacers lower rotational friction significantly, making it ideal for equipment with frequent small swing and start-stop cycles. A one-piece dust seal is pre-installed on bearing end face to block dust, moisture and cutting fluid from entering raceway, allowing stable performance inside production workshops or outdoor sites with mild dust pollution. The full product line devide into three types: ungeared, internal geared and external geared. All gears adopt 20-degree pressure angle involute profile with high machining precision, delivering smooth rotation and minimized gear wear during operation.

Model coding of RK line follows fixed naming rule with different suffix marking gear structure. Popular selling types include two ungeared options RK6-16P1Z and RK6-33P1Z, which rely on external driving structure and commonly equip filling line rotary tables and manual rotating tool fixtures. Internal geared RK6-16N1Z and RK6-33N1Z save inner equipment space thanks to built-in meshing design, widely used for CT scanner rotating frame and compact small truck crane slewing base. External geared RK6-25E1Z and RK6-37E1Z feature exposed tooth ring for easy connection with outer reduction motors, found on material diversion joints and lifting platform rotating support. Products with same outline dimension but different gear style share identical mounting hole layout, so end user can switch bearing type without reworking machine frame.

Integrated flange remains the core merit of this series, trimming 15% to 30% weight comparing to conventional slewing bearings in equivalent size and helping clients control manufacturing cost. Spaced ball layout brings much lighter idle turning torque than cross roller bearing, consuming less power for reciprocating swing application. Mass production of three gear versions shorten procurement lead time, and purchasing matching pinion from original manufacture avoid assembling trouble caused by mismatched tolerance from separate suppliers. For harsh working enviroment, Kaydon supply optional viton seal and custom-formulated grease to fit low-temperature open field, food processing or lightly corrosive workshop surroundings, expanding its usable application boundary.

These slewing bearings have gained wide recognition across multiple industries. Ungeared and internally geared models dominate automated packaging turntable, pallet rotating base for palletizer and welding positioner in automation sector. Construction equipment like aerial work platform, mini truck mounted crane and mining chute turn unit mostly pick geared specifications. Small-size variants support precise rotation for radar pedestal and medical CT frame, and customized greased RK bearings are also selected for small solar tracker and mini wind turbine yaw assembly exposed to variable outdoor weather.

For practical selection, continuously running equipment prefer geared bearings, whereas hydraulic push or hand-operated rotating mechanism gain better cost performance with ungeared style. Machines undergoing frequent swing should keep original standard ball configuration instead of random modification. Lubrication nipple is preset on bearing body; regular refilling of grease is needed every five hundred working hours, and seal inspection is required regularly for heavily dusty site. When standard dimension fail to satisfy special installation requirement, the brand accept small-batch customization on mounting holes, internal clearance or sealing construction to meet unique non-standard machinery demands.
